John Voehl to portray Abraham Lincoln during Veterans Day presentation

We will welcome Abraham Lincoln impersonator John Voehl for his presentation “Veterans Day for My Soldiers.”  A nationally recognized historian and presenter, Voehl has been portraying Lincoln for over 20 years.

To honor the men and women who’ve served our country, enjoy music by former music teacher Jim Kurty, who has over 45 years of entertainment experience. Pies will be provided by Premier Members Credit Union.

Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
In the talk, novelist and essayist Anne Lammott will discuss the powerful life lessons writing can teach us. After the screening, enjoy a lively discussion with audience members. TED is a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks.

“David and Revolutionary Neo-Classicism” with Dr. Marilyn R. Brown

Monday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m.
Dr. Marilyn R. Brown will examine the work of Jacques-Louis David and the mid-18th century classical art movement that was inspired by Roman and Greek culture. Brown is a professor of art history at University of Colorado Boulder and holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Yale University.

Mary Anne Randall  
Thursday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m.
Mary Anne Randall’s quilt collection includes local pieces from Boulder, and some of her quilts date back to the late 1700s and early 1800s. Randall will discuss the origins of her quilts and the lives of those who made them.

In the talk, Temple Grandin, who was diagnosed with autism as a child, will discuss how her ability to think in pictures highlights the world’s need for all kinds of thinkers.
